Microsoft’s April 2018 update brings a bunch of new features. However it might be worth holding off on their latest addition to Windows 10.

With this latest update users are reporting several issues:
– Computer loading to a blank black desktop after the update has completed.
– Google Chrome crashing after April update
– Computer stuck in a boot loop after starting update
– Computer boots to Windows advanced start up menu
– And more…

If you haven’t updated to the April 2018 update yet we recommend holding off for now. There are some unconfirmed suspected causes for some of these issues. Such as Avast or AVG installed on computers getting the black screen. It also seems that its mostly brand name computers affected at this stage.

With Windows 10 it has become harder to stop updates due to there being no settings to cancel updates. Thankfully there is some workarounds.

See here on how to disable Windows update.

If you do wish to install the update we would recommend uninstalling Avast or AVG if you have them and ensuring you have enough disk space.

If you are unfortunate enough to be already affected by any of these issues please do not hesitate to contact CLJ Technology to assist in fixing your computer. We can come to you and fix on the spot.

Please be advised that some of these issues can take up to 2 hours to fix depending on the exact issue and cause.
